A heavy chemical-grade pad in yellow, for acids, bases and aggressive solvents where a light pad would fail through.
Selection note
Heavy-class chemical pads, yellow, 200 to a box. The higher loft is for a drum leak or a tank spill where the volume is measured in litres rather than drips. Yellow keeps them distinct from the grey standard chemical pad, which matters when a kit is restocked in a hurry.
Construction
Chemical-grade polypropylene resists a wider range of aggressive liquids, and the heavy weight gives the responder time to contain a spill rather than chase it. Yellow is the standard hazard code in most plants.
Where it is used
- Laboratory spill kits
- Acid and caustic transfer points
- Battery, plating and etching areas
On the line
For a drum leak, ring the area with socks first, then lay heavy chemical pads inside the ring. The pad does the absorption; the sock decides where the absorption happens.
Release check
Release check: absorbency rate, retention under load, dust level and weight class against the certificate. A pad that releases liquid when lifted has failed the only test that matters at the point of use.
Handling notes
Check the SDS before use. Contaminated pads are hazardous waste and must be disposed of accordingly.
